If you happened upon and purchased the Super Retro-cade from Retro-Bit, you were definitely happy about the 90 included games. There are just so many of them and this time around, they aren’t vaporware or shovelware. The system is just leaps and bounds better than their previous foray into the microconsole market, the Generations. You can read more about the Super Retro-bit in my review found here. But now you’ll have another reason to buy the device as you can add your own ROMs to it! What the heck, how?! Well scroll down and I’ll give you the full rundown!
What You Will Need:
- An SD card, the capacity shouldn’t matter as long as the games fit on it.
- Windows, Mac, or Linux computer.
- Super Retro-cade.

- Place said arcade game in the retrobit games folder.
- Eject, remove your SD card.
- Turn on your Super Retro-cade, let it load to the main screen.
- Place SD card into the back of the Super Retro-cade.
- You will be prompted with a screen that says “SD Card Mounted, Please Select Data Storage.” Choose the SD Card option.
- You will now be taken to a screen where you will have your arcade game sitting there waiting for you!
- Play it the very same way you would play any of the preinstalled games!
NOTE: You can add ROMs from pretty much any system that the device already emulates. This means you can choose from not only retro arcade games but NES, SNES, and Sega as well. If other system’s games work, feel free to leave us a comment down below!

- Place SD card into your PC.

- Place said arcade game in the retrobit games folder.
- Now, google a .png file of the artwork for the game that you just added. Save it to your retrobit games folder.
- Rename the picture to be the same name as your ROM, but with the word “game” added to it. For example, if you added the Mario arcade, and it was titled mario.zip then your picture needs to be titled mariogame.png. If it is SuperMarioBros3.nes then your picture needs to be titled SuperMarioBros3game.png. Very simple.
- Do this for any and all games on your SD card.
- Eject, remove your SD card.
- Turn on your Super Retro-cade, let it load to the main screen.
- Place SD card into the back of the Super Retro-cade.
- You will be prompted with a screen that says “SD Card Mounted, Please Select Data Storage.” Choose the SD Card option.
- You will now be taken to a screen where you will have your arcade game sitting there waiting for you!

This tutorial will show you how to hack your SNES Classic Mini on your Apple computer running MacOS. Mac users can now use hakchi2 to add more games, play different consoles, and much more on their Classic. This tutorial will guide you step-by-step on how to install a free Windows VM to your Mac and set it up so you can begin hacking.
This tutorial is the same and works for both the SNES Classic Mini and NES Classic Mini.
1. Download and install VirtualBox here (click on OS X hosts under VirtualBox #.#.# platform packages).

2. Download the VirtualBox Extension Pack here (click on All supported platforms next to VirtualBox #.#.# Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack). Open the file and press Install.
3. Download and extract MSEdge on Win10 (x64) Stable for VirtualBoxhere.
4. In VirtualBox, go to File > Import Appliance...
5. Hit the folder icon, select the .ovf file extracted from step 3, and press Continue.
6. Press Import.
7. Connect your SNES Classic Mini to your Mac and turn it on.
8. Select MSEdge - Win10_preview and go to Settings.
9. Go to Ports > USB > check Enable USB Controller and select USB 2.0 (EHCH) Controller.
10. Press the + USB icon and select Nintendo Co., Ltd... and press OK.
11. Turn off the SNES Classic, then hold the reset button, turn the SNES Classic back on, and release the reset button (the power light should not be on).
12. Again, select MSEdge - Win10_preview and go to Settings.
13. Go to Ports > USB and hit the + USB icon and select Onda (unverified) V972 tablet in flashing mode... and press OK.
14. Select MSEdge - Win10_preview and press Start.
15. When prompted, sign into Windows with the password (note: the 0 is a zero):

16. You will now have a Windows VM running on your Mac which you can use to install hakchi2 and add games, consoles, and more to your SNES Classic. From here, you can now follow any of our guides. We recommend this tutorial (how-to add more games to your SNES Classic) to start. When installing running hakchi, you will be prompted to install .NET Framework.
